Twilight At The Zocalo was written specifically for and is dedicated to the all-female Milton Hershey School Guitar Ensemble of 2010 by their director, Randal Rhoades, following his trip to Cuernavaca, Mexico in which he spent some time observing the activities at the town plaza, or zocalo.

The music begins with a lively ostinato in the 4th guitar part that serves as the foundation for much of the composition. Soon other guitars introduce a contrasting rhythmic element marked by both rich harmonies and unison statements that is continued through the completion of the first section.

Although the middle section provides a contrasting and serene mood, a melodic motif introduced earlier reappears to foreshadow the return to the animated style of the introduction.

The final section features a statement of the initial melody one octave higher, followed by a juxtaposition of musical elements presented earlier in the piece.
